The Difference Between Mindfulness & Meditation
Meditation
Meditation is an intentional practice, where you use focus to increase calmness, concentration, awareness, and emotional balance. Seated meditation usually begins with deep breathing in a comfortable position, bringing all your awareness to your breath and consciously guiding the mind toward an anchor, or a single point of focus. In meditation, you typically spend a focused amount of time—anywhere from a minute to an hour or more.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the simple act of paying attention and noticing, being present in whatever you’re doing. When you are being actively mindful, you are noticing the world around you, as well as your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, movements, and effects you have on others around you.
You can practice mindfulness anytime, anywhere, and with anyone by being fully engaged in the here and now. Many people go about their daily lives with their minds wandering from the actual activity they are participating in, to other thoughts, desires, fears, or wishes. When you’re mindful, you are actively involved in the activity with all of your senses, in the present moment, gently bringing yourself back to the conversation or task at hand, instead of allowing your mind to wander.
Mindfulness can also be practiced both during seated meditation and can also be applied to any situation throughout the day.
