Understand Your Mental Health

Mental illness does not start with the diagnosis. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a medical problem, just like heart disease or diabetes.

Knowing your mental health is knowing who you are.

Mental illnesses are health conditions that involve changes in your emotions, your thinking, and the behaviors resulting from issues that arise in your daily life.

Good mental health is when you are confident with new situations and or people; have optimistic feelings: do not always blame yourself; feel good about yourself, and set reachable and challenging goals.

Bad mental health Is when our mental health is not making us feel good. Which makes it difficult to manage how we think, feel, and act during our day-to-day. Worrying too much and always being fearful. Emotional highs and lows. The lack of socialization with friends and activities. The lack of energy and/or problems sleeping.

Can mental illness be cured? There are always signs. DO NOT ignore them. There must be a conscious effort to cure yourself of most mental illnesses, such as addictions, depression, PTSD, schizophrenia, and more. Communication is important, pay attention and ask questions.

What can untreated mental illness lead to? Chronic mental illness can be the cause of aches, and pains, that have no physical source. Prolonged aches and pains become detrimental to your physical health, causing the development of serious physical ailments that make mental illness even more detrimental.

Does mental health get worse with age? Mental illness is not a natural part of aging. Mental health disorders affect younger adults more often than they do older adults, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Seniors are less likely to seek help.
